Making the Most of Your Weight Training
By sporty gee kay | July 5, 2007
Every now and again I become frustrated with my work-out routine. I try new machines or try different weights and I seem to plateau. I recently spoke with a certified personal trainer who suggested that I try resting less and try super sets.
He stated that by keeping the resting period shorter, I force my muscles to work harder therefore making them stronger in the process. I asked for the “laymans definition of “super sets”. He stated that this is when you choose 2 exercises that work different groups of muscles in the same area.
For instance, my new routine for legs includes the leg extensions immediately followed by the hamstring pulls. In doing so, I make both groups of muscles stronger and make them work harder at the same time.
